Foreign students need host families University Extension's English Language Program is seeking staff or faculty to house university-age students from the Middle East and Japan. The Program currently has 90 students from 30 different countries who are here for periods ranging from 3 to 9 months. They are enrolled full-time in the English Language Program. Homestays with families are initially for 3 months. The students contribute $200 per month for room and board. For more information, contact Steve Mandel, 429-2024. Staff committee wants staff input The Staff Committee has met recently to discuss several issues, including staff involvement in decision making on campus. The committee would appreciate hearing from any staff member who has suggestions of areas which they consider under-represented by staff participation. If you have any suggestions, please contact Linda Foley, Chair of the Staff Committee. Linda is in the Purchasing Office. Alan Hirormura, a member of the Reg Fee Committee, has announced that on March 29 there will be a brown bag lunch to discuss the Reg Fee Committee process and deliberations. Anyone interested should show up at Kresge 159 (Seminar Room) at 12 noon on that date. Bring your own lunch. Policy changed for groups using campus Chancellor Sinsheimer has changed the University's policy about non-university organizations using campus facilities. From now on, any event which a non-campus organization plans, using University facilities, must be co-sponsored by a campus unit or a registered campus organization. The co-sponsor relationship must be approved by the appropriate senior admisistrative officer: the academic vice chancellor, the chief financial officer, the director of student services, or the assistant chancellor for university relations. There are two purposes for the change: first, to strengthen the accountability of University groups for the events they co-sponsor; and second, to reduce the University's liability and assure proper management of possible commercial aspects of these events.
