Lick Code: M 8. Plate Condition: Good. Information on plate: is in Chinese characters. According to an article by W.W. Campbell in the New York Times, January 6, 1918, German forces helping to suppress the Boxer Rebellion in Beijing in 1900 took the instruments back to Germany. Kaiser Wilhelm used them to decorate his palace at Potsdam. Campbell states that he saw the instruments at Potsdam in 1905.
