From the Sentinel: "Dr. Kenneth V. Thimann, provost of Crown College and professor of biological sciences at UCSC, heads a group of five scientists and 11 students participating in the 11th International Botanical Congress which opened Sunday in Seattle. Dr. Thimann, president of the international group, addressed the opening session Sunday night. The congress will close September 2. More than 4200 persons from the U.S., Europe, the Orient and the South Pacific who are interested in the plant sciences, are attending the congress, which is held every five years. The last assembly was in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1964.
